Windplayer
Laura Bryant is well known for her recording work throughout
the United States. She is endorsed by the Yamaha Corporation to give
nationwide clinics and seminars on the woodwind recorder. Her most
recent tour was with Lisa Lynn Franco and Celestial Winds currently
signed by the Windham Hill record label.
After
Laura received her BA in music performance and composition from UCLA,
she began teaching music to children in East LA and was truly inspired.
Laura makes her home in the San Francisco Bay Area where she now provides
complete music programs for schools that do not have the resources
to make music available to children. Her company is called "From
the Heart Music".
Keyboardist
Max Gutierrez was trained at the National Conservatory of music
in Mexico City. Early out in his career he was recruited by Disney
to perform in "Krash", the band that headlined in both LA
and Florida for four years.
In
the San Francisco Bay Area, Max is currently producing and performing
with Dreamroad and other artists. His latest production, Dreamroad's
"Angel Island" (March 2002 release) features Dave Weckl,
Kai Eckhardt, Nelson Braxton and Santana's own Karl Perazzo.
How
it came to be: Dreamroad Comes from The Heart...
Max
came to an interview for a teaching position with Laura's music program.
She recalls, in reviewing his resume, "He had a list of credits
so long, I actually laughed at him in the first interview. I thought
he was making it all up."
However,
everything on the resume was true, and was the very reason Max wanted
to be a teacher. Performing music for adults is a great career, but
Max wanted to "give back a little bit", by teaching kids
the fun of playing music.
The
music of Dreamroad was born in the Fall of 1997 out of his desire
to give a little bit back. The CDs are a collection of beautiful woodwind
and keyboard compositions derived from diverse cultural heritage and
performance experience. The music is both melodic and spiritual yet
retains a rhythmic sensibility that is reminiscent of World-beat.
Audiences are drawn in by the beautiful melodies and enticing rhythms
but are then captivated by the performance.
